I was introducted to the World Heritage List by a plaque in Piazza del Duomo in Pisa. Since then, it was 2007, i started to collect them. I hope to travel all around the World and see all the WHS in the list.

Modena

Luca Molinari Italia - 08-Apr-11

I'm Italian (from north Tuscany) and I've visited most of the historic centres of northern Italy medieval towns.

I reached Modena only because is on the List and, after visiting, I could say that this is, by far, one of the most poor and totally overrated WHS.

The Duomo is nothing special, very small and under refurbishment by decades, although the inside is nice (and free, not so usual in Italy).

The Piazza is one of the ugliest of italian's "comuni": there is NOTHING, not even a nice Town hall, so common in this part of Italy.

The Marble Basin of Carrara (T)

I live in a town near Carrara and I visited the marble basins several times. There are exceptional landscapes that inspired artists of all centuries and miles and miles of 'white' mountains. Plus, the basins have a storical meaning due to the thousands of statue made of Carrara marble. The 'Michelangelo Basin' and the 'Fantiscritti Bridges' worth for sure a place in the World Heritage List
